2nd place for Team VIRTU Cycling in the TTT, Mieke Kröger gets the red jersey

Team VIRTU Cycling had a great day in Healthy Ageing Tour. On stage 3a Mieke Kröger put in a strong attack and earned the red jersey and in the TTT the team showed its strength finishing 2nd.

The third day at Healthy Ageing Tour had two stages for the riders. First a normal short stage where Mieke Kröger did a great performance in the breakaway.

“The girls did a really good job this morning sitting together and being in the front. Mieke did a super strong performance again, and both Emilie and Christina did a great job helping Barbara in the final, so to see them continue in the afternoon was really good. I’m super proud of them.” Carmen Small says.

The remains of the peloton caught Mieke Kröger within the last kilometers, but Barbara Guarischi sprinted for 6th. Afterwards Mieke Kröger was awarded with the red jersey as the most agressive rider.

On stage 3B, a TTT, Team Virtu Cycling delivered a great performance, as the team finished 2nd.

“The girls did a super job with basicly no practice. I knew they would after the time trial seing their times. They were really consistent and there wasn’t that much difference from the split time to the finish. It was a great performance today. It was the first time they rode together, so I told them, that there were no pressure today, we just needed to see, where we were at,” sports director Carmen Small says.

It was Wiggle’s Kirsten Wild, who took the morning stage, while Boels-Dolmans won the TTT.
