High expectations for Boels Ladies Tour

Team VIRTU Cycling is starting Boels Ladies Tour today, and DS Carmen Small hopes the riders can showcase their strengths and bring the team success.

Later today, Team VIRTU Cycling will begin Boels Ladies Tour with a 3.8 km long prologue that starts in the Tom Doumoulin Bike Park. The short prologue is a technical course with several corners and 180-degree turns.  The race consists of six stages, both flats and hilly.

Annemiek Van Vleuten has dominated the latest two editions of the race, keeping the leader’s jersey throughout all stages last year, and she must be considered one of the favourites for winning the race.

DS Carmen Small is looking forward to the race, hoping for stage wins and perhaps a podium spot in the GC:

“We hope to continue the season strongly. This is our second to last stage race, and we’re heading into the last part of the season before the Worlds, so it’s an important time for the riders. I hope they can showcase their strenght and in turn that it’ll give the team success. Each of the riders can contribute to the team in their best way and hopefully we can end up on the podium. It would be really nice to go for GC this tour, and also have some focus on stage wins”.

Team VIRTU Cycling lines up with Marta Bastianelli, Barbara Guarischi, Sofia Bertizzolo, Sara Penton and Louise Norman Hansen.
