Mieke Kröger fourth in Boels Ladies Tour time trial!

24 minutes and 49 seconds. That’s the amount of time Team Cycling Women’s Mieke Kröger was to complete the 18.6 kilometer long and relatively flat route in and around the Dutch city of Roosendaal. The effort took her to fourth position in hard competition with the world’s best time trialists.

German Mieke Kröger spent the afternoon in the hot seat on Sunday’s final stage of the Dutch stage race, Boels Ladies Tour, and it was first when the best GC riders were launched from the ramp that her time was beaten. Once again, Annemiek van Vleuten was superb on home ground and she won the stage thundering through the course in 24.00 and thereby she also took the overall win.

During the stage race, Team VIRTU Cycling Women took five top-10 results in six stage. Sports Director, Carmen Small, says:

“Mieke really shows her impressive strength on today’s time trial. It’s her specialty and she truly emphasizes her dignity as a favorite on these time trials. Overall, I’m happy with the effort over the course of the weekend and we have flashed the VIRTU colors in the finals in several stages and pocketed a few good results. On the other hand, we aim for the victory and of course I’d rather have that one stage win. However, the girls kept insisting and tried their best and I’m happy about their effort.”

Mieke Kröger reports from Holland:

“I felt super strong today and the route suited me. There were long stretches along the way but also a few more technically demanding turns but I got through them all and maintained a good rhythm. Even though a fourth place is flattering, I’m also sorry being able to sit in the “hotseat” for so long without being able to get a podium position. Now I’m looking forward to the TTT World Championships where my condition seems to be able to peak. “
