Mieke Kröger powers to solo victory in the Netherlands

25-year-old Mieke Kröger wins second stage of the Dutch stage race Healthy Ageing Tour

After a long day in the breakaway, Mieke Kröger finished a strong day for the team. By attacking solo in the finale, the strong German kept the peloton behind and could pass the finish line in a solo victory – her first win this season.

Mieke thus takes over the leader’s jersey from Lotta Lepistö (Trek-Segafredo Women) after two days of promising riding from Team Virtu Cycling.

On the first stage Barbara Guarischi took 5th place and Anouska Koster took the points jersey which she still wears going into the third stage.

There was thus a really positive vibe among the riders after the race. Mieke explains:

It was a pretty awesome day for the whole team, and I think we raced well together. It’s a really nice atmosphere. I was in the breakaway the whole day and “Mieke was just too strong for the whole peloton!” finishes Anouska with a grin.

Four stages remain of the Healthy Aging Tour, which ends this Sunday, counting two half stages which includes an individual time trial.
