On Tuesday, Team Virtu Cycling will start Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour. The German stage race consist of 6 stages, and the race begins in Gera with a 98,4 km long stage. The entire race has a total distance of 410 km, with a 17,9 km long ITT on stage 5.
After two consecutive wins, Lisa Brennauer (WNT Rotor Pro-Cycling) can defend her title in this year’s edition of Thüringen and she’s therefore considered a major favourite. Ellen Van Dijk (Trek Segafredo) must also be taken into account, as she finished just 5 seconds after Brennauer in last year’s classification.
DS Carmen Small says that the team is focused and ready for the race: “The team coming to Thüringen is ready to race. Most of them have had a nice break from racing and are feeling fresh and ready to go. I’m excited to see what the girls can do in this race”
Small elaborates: “My expectations are high as usual and we will be looking at stage wins mostly, and not so much the general classification”.
Dutch rider, Anouska Koster, is excited to participate in the race: “I am really looking forward to Thüringen. It is a really nice long stage race of 6 days, with hilly courses, which fits me. After a good block of training, I hope to put my nose in front of the race. I’m excited to see how it goes and to race again with the team!”
Team Virtu Cycling lines up with Barbara Guarischi, Christina Siggaard, Anouska Koster, Marta Bastianelli, Kasia Pawlowska and Mieke Kröger.
