Team VIRTU Cycling is ready for Vårgarda West Sweden this weekend
The UCI Women’s World Tour is back, and Team VIRTU Cycling is ready to participate in PostNord UCI WWT Vårgarda West Sweden this weekend. DS Carmen Small hopes for a top-5 placement in Saturday’s TTT.
This weekend, Team VIRTU Cycling will be racing PostNord UCI WWT Vårgarda West Sweden team time trial and road race. The races are a part of the UCI Women’s World Tour, and accounts for the 17th and 18th division of the WWT. On Saturday, the team will be facing a 36 km long team time trial, which is rather hilly, and Sunday the riders are in for a 145,3 km long road race with gravel sections and small climbs along the way.
DS Carmen Small hopes for a strong performance in both races: For the TTT I hope to have a good race, a top-5 is, what would be expected if everything goes as planned. I think this discipline has been underrated this year. I think some of the teams haven’t put in the time for practicing, including us, as much as we have in the past years, so I am hoping that it evens the playing field a bit. It’s always a beautiful discipline, when it’s done correct and I am looking forward to see, what the girls can throw down”.
“For the RR we have a lot of cards to play with the team we are bringing. I hope for another World Tour podium, but like always if we compete as a team, the result will naturally come. This is a very big time of season, when teams and riders are talking about next season, so I hope that we stay focused and race hard, and keep our eyes on doing a good result”.
Team VIRTU Cycling is represented by Christina Siggaard, Mieke Kröger, Kasia Pawlowska, Marta Bastianelli, Anouska Koster, and Louise Norman Hansen for the TTT, and Sara Penton, Mieke Kröger, Kasia Pawlowska, Marta Bastianelli, Anouska Koster, and Barbara Guarischi for the road race.
