Team VIRTU Cycling taking on Strade Bianche
This Saturday, Team VIRTU Cycling Women are taking on the 134 kilometer long Italian one-day race, Strade Bianche in the rolling hills of Tuscany. The race contains eight gravel sections between 0.8 and 9.5 kilometres in length and numerous hills in the beautiful landscape of northern Italy in and around the stunning town of Siena where architectural time seems to have stopped at the 13th century.
Team VIRTU Cycling Women’s Christina Siggaard won last week’s Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and if a bigger group of riders emergers on the finish line, she will be a contender for another big win.
Christina Siggaard says:
“We have just returned from a recon of the race and I think we have several good cards on our hands on this kind of parcour. The hills are quite long, they are steep, and there are plenty of them in terms of opportunities to attack, but whether we are going to make it into the select group depends on more than just good legs. It’s my first Strade Bianche and I’m looking forward to trying it out. The shape is good, and we will certainly go for the win. “
Team VIRTU Cycling Women’s line-up for Strade Bianche is: Christina Siggaard, Sara Penton, Louise Norman Hansen, Claudia Koster, Doris Schweizer and Katrine Aalerud.
