Team VIRTU Cycling wins Danish TTTT Championship
This Saturday, Team VIRTU Cycling participated in the Danish TTT Championship in Glyngøre. Sports Director Carmen Small is happy with the results and says it’s a good boost for the self-confidence heading into Danish National Championships.
Christina Siggaard, Birgitte Krogsgaard and Louise Norman Hansen represented Team VIRTU Cycling at the national TTT Championship in Denmark last Saturday. Team VIRTU Cycling was the third and final team to start the 31,4 km long course in and around the area of Glyngøre.
Even though the team only lined up with three riders, they quickly build up a high pace, reaching nearly 45 km/h in average after the first lap of 15,7 km. The team kept going till the end and clocked the best time of 42’26”, finishing two minutes prior to Team RYTGER powered by Cykeltøj-Online.dk in second place.
Sports Director Carmen Small is happy with the outcome of the Championship.
“I’m very pleased with the girls. We went with a small team, because Trine Schmidt is out with a back injury. It’s never easy to win, even when you’re the strongest team. Sometimes it’s harder and there is more pressure, but the girls drove well as a team, and the outcome was great. It’s a good boost of self-confident heading into nationals”
Birgitte Krogsgaard rides her first season as a professional rider this year, and she was also very happy about the result:
“It means a lot to win a gold medal today. A year ago, I’d never raced at this level, so being able to stand here with my teammates with a gold medal is unbelievable.”
The Danish National Championships in time trial and road race are held in Esbjerg the 27th and 30th of June.
