Two times 4th in Norway
This weekend Team Waoo were on the start line for the two Norwegian UCI-races Sundvolden GP and Ringerike GP.
With a strong lineup, which included the winner of both races in 2017 Rasmus Guldhammer, there were high expectations among the guys to turn the tendency of finishing just outside the podium into a win.
But despite strong performances both days the team didn’t succeed and had to be satisfied with being placed 4th both days with respectively Jesper Schultz and Silas Clemmensen.
Young Silas Clemmensen, who also proved to be strong last weekend in the Danish UCI-races, explains the finale of Sunday: The final two laps I go solo to catch the breakaway in the front to be able to sprint for the podium. Unfortunately, the gap was too big on the Riperbakken climb and I had to satisfy myself with 4th place.”
The team thus showed their ability to be there in the finals despite the lacking podium spot. Next big race will be the traditional Luxembourgish stage race Flèche du Sud which starts May 29th. Previous winners of the race counts names like Michael Valgren, Geraint Thomas, Andy Schleck, Bradley Wiggins, Alex Zülle and our own Bjarne Riis finished 2nd in 1984.
Team Virtu Cycling have a race-break at the moment, preparing for the Spanish stage race Emakumeen XXXII.Bira starting May 22.
