VIRTU Cycling Women signs Danish triathlete

Team VIRTU Cycling Women has signed a contract with 27-year-old Birgitte Krogsgaard who enters the team with a background in the triathlon sport. The Danish medical student is looking forward to trying road racing.

Birgitte Krogsgaard says:

“I’m hugely honoured to get the chance at VIRTU Cycling in 2019. I’m a novice in road racing and I look forward to learning a lot from the experienced women in the team. There are some differences in the training methods between triathlon and cycling and there will be a change in training methods but I’m already looking forward to getting started with the season. Over time it will be exciting to take on the big races but I will start with the smaller ones and hopefully pocket some results there”.

Also DS, Carmen Small is looking forward to working with the former triathlete:

“I am really excited to work with Birgitte. She comes from a strong triathlon background and it will be interesting to see what she can do on the road.  The goal is for her to gain experience through some smaller races and the big goal is to get her to competing at World Tour level by the end of the season.  We are a Danish development team so this is priority for the team to help foster up and coming talent.  Birgitte will learn a lot from the other girls as our roster has grown in not only strength but also in experience”.
