VIRTU Cycling Women took gold and silver in TTT Danish Championships
Today, Hårlev near Copenhagen was the host for the Danish Championships in cycling´s most demanding discipline, the Team Time trial. The 46 kilometers was completed in just over one hour by the two VIRTU Cycling Women squads and the effort resulted in first and second place.
A satisfying result for VIRTU Cycling Women DS, Carmen Small:
“Our focus was to come as close as possible to perfection and that lead to a great result finishing first and second in the Danish TTT championships. Technically, the girls were doing a very good job and they put a 100 % effort in every pedal stroke along the way. We have been training the discipline and the technique every day for the last week and the hard work now pays off in a great result. Now, we are looking forward to our next goal in August, where the TTT World Championships will take place. We are aware that there´s a difference between the two events but the way, that the girls rode today was fantastic and it gives us all hunger for more“, says Carmen Small.
Het Nieuwsblad winner, Christina Siggaard took her third consecutive TTT Danish Championship:
“Naturally, winning is always my goal and winning on home ground is something very special. But it was tough out there and the sun nearly got the better of me and on the final kilometers I was on the edge of letting go. Mieke (Kroger), Kasia (Pawlowska) and Trine (Schmidt) are big engines and are specialists technically, so I was on limit today. In order to evolve and compete internationally, we have to work on our maximum pace but the World´s are still two months away“, concludes Siggaard.
