VIRTU Women are bringing home national championship medals

It’s season for both TT and road race national championships and Team VIRTU Cycling Women have taken two medals so far. Swedish Sara Penton took bronze in the road race and Polish Kasia Pawlowska won silver in the national time trial while Danish Louise Norman Hansen, Trine Schmidt and Christina Siggaard this evening were in competition against the clock on Danish soil.

Eventually, the best Team VIRTU Cycling Women rider was Louise Norman Hansen finishing eighth. The VIRTU Dane says:

“We started the course in tailwind and I had a good and strong feeling out there, although I obviously suffered as expected. The numbers looked good too and I felt the power go out through the pedals but unfortunately, the effort did not bring medals. Now we all look forward to the road race where we are really motivated to bring home the red and white jersey to VIRTU, “said Louise Norman Hansen immediately after the effort.

Also Swiss Doris Schweizer has fought against the clock and took fourth place on a hilly route in Switzerland:

“The time trial was not really a goal for me this year as I wanted to focus on the Giro. Overall, I’m pleased with my performance. I’ve worked a lot on my cadence and technical skills but just did not have my best day because I was not fully recovered from a very hard training block but I gave everything I had. The route was very difficult and I lost time on the downhill and the high-speed sections. With Nicola Spirig (Olympic Champion) we had a strong field, so it was an obvious opportunity for do some sharp competition, says Schweizer.
